Emotional Balloons

I’ve got a question for you and I want you to think really hard about it:

Do you struggle with expressing difficult emotions?

Don’t worry – it’s normal to wrestle with big emotions.

When we are troubled or dealing with difficult emotions and can’t process them right away, our feelings and emotions go into a place we call our emotional balloons. Sometimes, our emotional balloons get so full we do or say things that harm others or ourselves.

So in order to foster healthy relationships and handle those difficult emotions, we have to check-in with ourselves and find ways to lighten the load and express our feelings in a helpful way.

As adults, it’s our duty to set an example for our kiddos so that they feel comfortable listening to their wants and needs, expressing their emotions, and having self-compassion for themselves even in tough situations.

Today, we want to share with you 10 ways you can empty your emotional balloon BEFORE it gets too full. We hope this inspires you to explore what you need and we hope it’s helpful when you are experiencing difficult emotions.

Feel free to share with your little one(s) as a helpful tool for emptying their emotional balloons.

Let’s Dive In:
